Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge 2013 is endorsed by World Association of Chefs Societies (WACS) to promote and recognize the skills and professionalism of both young and professional chefs within Thailand.

Over 500 talented chefs (with 50% are from outside of Bangkok) will gather at this exciting culinary meeting place to challenge and showcase their skills. Their commitment and devotion for their culinary skill will be critiqued by an impressive panel of 20 judges, out of which 10 are WACS approved International judges.

New President for World Chefs
WACS is proud to announce that Chef Willment Leong is the newly appointed President for World Chefs Without Borders.

Chef Willment Leong is the founder Chairman of the Thailand Culinary Academy, which was formed to provide culinary support to the younger chefs, improve the Thai culinary scene and to assist local cooks and chefs to earn the recognition and respect from the international community. A Singaporean who has been working in Bangkok for several years, Leong is also the Vice President of the Thai Chefs’ Association, and has been instrumental in various humanitarian efforts in Thailand and the region. During the Thailand tsunami, Leong was pivotal in organising the chefs for relief efforts and fund raising. In 2013, he was awarded the Deliciae Lifetime Achievement Award at the World Gourmet Series, which honours individuals who have contributed to the profession. Says Gissur Gudmundsson, President of the World Association of Chefs Societies, “As the previous Vice President of World Chefs Without Borders, Willment fits into this new role perfectly. He has a big heart for humanitarian work and we look forward to his contributions.”

It was an honor and pleasure to attend the first edition of this competition last year in Bangkok where we witnessed professional high standard competitions from the first day. We look forward to seeing this competition develop into an international competition with teams from all over the world. It has all the potential to become one of the major culinary competitions in the world.

This is the only event in Thailand that attracts chef participations from at least 14 provinces in Thailand. The 2nd edition of the Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge has been endorsed by WACS as a National Competition. It will be more challenging compared to the previous year and the competitors will definitely need to work harder in order to achieve new culinary height and gain personal glory in the event. On behalf of the organizing committee of the 2nd Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge held in conjunction with THAIFEX 2013, I would like to invite you to participate at this event.

After a successful 1st edition last year, we have received great response not only from Thailand but also from Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Korea, China and Taiwan, who are keen on sending their very best chefs to participate in this culinary competition. This great feedback has led us to increase the entries from 300 to 500.

Endorsed by WACS (World Association of Chefs Societies) as a National Competition, the Thailand Ultimate Chef Challenge will be an event of international standard featuring the 2nd edition of the Mekong River Culinary Challenge, 1st edition of the World Seafood Culinary Challenge and 16 other classes. 20 highly experienced judges have been handpicked by the committee that includes 10 international WACS judges to ensure fairness of the competition.
